About Cord Blood


Cord blood, or umbilical cord blood, is blood that remains in the umbilical cord and placenta at the time of birth. This blood has typically been discarded following delivery. Upon medicine discovery that cord blood contains rich source of hematopoietic stem cells, stem cells that can change into white blood cells, red blood cells and platelet. Cord blood stem cells become a viable substitute to bone marrow in thousands of successful transplants.
